Summer Staycation

I can’t believe how quickly summer has come and gone! We’re in the last week of summer vacation before our four year old starts kindergarten. It’s seriously insane how time flies. We decided to close out the summer with a family “staycation” in Siesta Key Beach last weekend.

Siesta Key is ranked the #1 beach in the U.S. by TripAdvisor and surprisingly, we’ve never been. We took the opportunity to drive the mere 2.5 hours southwest to experience it’s beauty, relax, and also to enjoy my birthday weekend.

We stayed at very family friendly resort called the Capri at Siesta Key which was perfectly located with only a 2 minute walk down to it’s private beach. The beach is absolutely beautiful! Siesta Key is known for having the finest, whitest sand in the country. It also has the cleanest, most clear water that I’ve ever seen at any other beach in Florida.

What I loved most about Siesta Key was its sense of community. A majority of the shops and restaurants in their downtown area are “mom & pop” shops. Make it a point to dine and support the local businesses when you’re in town. My favorite restaurants were the Bonjour French Cafe and the Hub Baja Grill. The Bonjour French Cafe has amazing breakfast featuring a variety of sweet and savory crepes while the Hub Baja Grill is best known for its fish tacos and margaritas.

All in all it was a great trip! I really enjoyed spending time with the family and relaxing. We will definitely be coming back soon.
